Does TV Shape Us

Thought out history there has been many different Tv shows and movies made and some of them were amazing and some of them aren’t even worth the space in the shelf. But Tv is undeniably one of the most popular past times around the world. Growing up I loved watching tv and movies, I would watch tv every chance that I got I would watch a movie and it could even be the someone many times in a row it didn’t matter. All that mattered was that I was watching a story taking place. I didn’t watch normal kids shows though, I would watch Animal Plant, Discovery channel, and travel channel. I was enamored with anything to do with the outdoors and animals, this made it so I was watching nature documentaries instead of watching Dora the explorer. But don’t get me wrong I still watched all the normal kids shows like iCarly, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, Neds Declassified School Survival Guide, and SpongeBob Square Pants. The coolest part about TV is that you can tell how old someone is by the tv they watch. For example, if you asked someone that is around 20 years old what kind of tv shows they watched as a kid I would be willing to bet that they say a list simpler to the one that I gave earlier. On the other hand, if you asked someone that is around the age of 30 they would give a much different list, it would be shows like Boy Meets world, and Full house. Not only did we watch the same shows as people around our own age, the Tv shows have a direct connection to how we act in real life.

How did Steve Irwin die and what's happened to his family since his death?

When I was a kid I would religiously watch Steve Irwin the Alligator hunter, this was my favorite show of all time. This wasn’t just a show to me, this show showed me really how delict nature really is and how it’s our job to take care of it. Steve Irwin thought me to respect our earth and every animal that lives on it, this makes me think if everyone watches his show what our earth would look like today, would people respect nature?

Knowing how much tv has infused me throughout my life makes me wonder what will be the next thing to influence the next generation. Will it be youtubers like Jake Paul and Logan Paul? I really hope that’s not the case, but it will probably sadly be the case.

For Streaming Services, Navigating Generational Differences Is Key

Is Music a Generational Thing?

The Evolution of Music Policy and Technology | Casey Rae | Music Business | Berklee Online - YouTube

Music is one of those things that always show the gap between generations just by the music people listen to or have listened to in the past. You just tend to see people that are in the late Baby Boomers, and the gen X generations tend to listen to music that was made in the time when they were growing up. Music like classic rock and roll, Summer of love, and Classic Soul this is the music they grew up with and still listen to till this day. Then fast forward to the millennial generation you see different types of rock like pop rock, blues rock, alternative rock, and punk rock that’s just a few. There are also a lot of millennials that listen to electronic music seen at many different music festivals around the world. Millennials are also known for being the first generation to start consuming music online by downloading it off the web on websites like Napster which we will talk about a little later. Then you finally get to Generation Z which we most of us in this class are in. Generation Z is a big Hip hop rap generation, a lot of us listen to rap and some people listen to mix taps and small-time rappers on apps like Sound cloud, and Spinrilla. There are also a large group of gen Zs that do listen to country and different types of rock. One thing to make sure not to forget I am genializing and there are people in different generations that listen to music from many different time periods. With saying that there is undeniably is generation gap with music as a whole, every generation looks at the newest generation’s music in a negative light. Mostly because they don’t understand but that’s the beautiful thing about music is everyone has their own taste but that’s okay it should be an outlet for people to express themselves.

Napster turns 20: How it changed the music industry - BBC Culture

One of the most interesting times in music was the Napster file sharing. Napster was an online service founded in 1999, which was a website where people could file share their music to people around the world kind of like a social media. This was very troubling to the music industry because people where no longer buying music they were just downloading it off the internet for free from Napster. A lot of music artists lost a lot of money do to this free downloading the estimated lose is more than 50 million dollars. I wasn’t old enough to remember the time of Napster do to the fact that I was only 3 years old when it was popular. But the gen z kids had their turn that downloading music in the early 2010s on our iPods. I remember having friends that wouldn’t update their phone for the longest time because they would lose all their free music. What do you think, should we be downloading music for free? Did you ever download music as a kid? What do you think of Napster, should they of shut them down or should they of had the chase to change?

News Papers, Will our kids ever see one?

News Papers they are multiple pages, they have news and sports in them, they even have comics, and they weirdly smell kinda good we all know that. Our parents and grandparents grew up on the news paper, but have you actually ever read one from start to finish? because I never have, they are kind of just those things that we started fires with for a bonfire. there is no arguing that the newspaper is a thing of the passed but is it just because people would rather watch the news on TV? or is it the fact that news papers don’t dramatize the news so it’s less entertaining to people? I tend to say it’s both, because the news paper was very cut and dry it gave you the news, some current events, and the scores of the sports games the night before. On the other hand the news is a full blows production that tells you everything that’s going on and with the addition of Video footage, interviews, and lastly news archers giving their opinion. Does one seem a little more entertaining?

I would definitely say the news is more inflated for views for sure, it’s more than just getting news now, people want to feel like they have been there. So long story short I feel confident in saying that our country isn’t done with the news paper because the news on tv is so much better its because the news on tv is like a tv show. So what do you think, why do you think people are not reading the news paper anymore? is it the need for entertainment or Is it that would rather watch information, then reading the news paper?
